Navy OCS

To break from the usual routine, I thought I'd share some photos I found online of Navy Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida. If anyone is thinking of partaking in this suffering, I'm happy to discuss my own experiences.
Left: discovering you're a lowly Candidate. Right: forgetting same.
Note the fear in Candidate on the far right.

Beats holding it straight out (inside joke).

I've been holding this one back for a while, probably because it isn't a very good joke. The last photo looks like the soldier portrayed had an overzealous priest at the Ash Wednesday Mass.

Ha! They don't give you an opportunity to go to church on your first Sunday there, so I can assure you this "poopy" is wearing a piece of the front lawn to the chow hall, nicely adhered to his forehead by Pensacola-humidity-induced sweat.

Hi, my boyfriend is at OCS now. Ive been writing letter to him. However, he said he hasnt recieved one letter from me. Do they keep it for a while and then give it to them...or can he only recieve mail from family? thank you

Hello Anonymous,

I would like to encourage you that the school is not up to any dirty tricks when it comes to giving candidates their mail. I remember the occasional mix-up, where some of the information (class number, for instance) on the envelope was wrong, so mail didn't get to a candidate right away. Also, if candidates have rolled in their class, or been placed in the holding company, it may take a little extra time to get to them. But it should get to him; if it has been a very long time, I suggest you try to reach someone at the school, perhaps the Senior Chief Petty Officer.

Let me know if I can be of any more help.

Peace,
Tom
